 DRAPERS’ ACADEMY SIXTH FORM

Admission Rules for Entry to Year 12

September 2012

Admission number

 In addition to students currently on the roll of Drapers’ Academy 30 external Year 12 students will be admitted, subject to the following rules:

 Places on individual courses of study are limited. In the event of oversubscription for a particular course of study, priority will be given to siblings of pupils attending Drapers’ Academy at the deadline for application and who will still be attending Drapers’ Academy in September 2012 and any remaining places on the course or courses in question, will be given to applicants in descending order of their total GCSE (or equivalent qualification) point scores.

Oversubscription

 Where the number of applications for admission in Year 12 is greater than the published admission number, applications will be considered against the criteria set out below.

 1.1             Children in public care;

 1.2             Admission of pupils whose siblings currently attend Drapers’ Academy: in this context the term “sibling” refers to a child who lives as brother or sister in the same house, including natural brothers and sisters, adopted siblings, stepbrothers or stepsisters and foster brothers and sisters;

 1.3             Admission of pupils residing in the Academy’s agreed priority admissions area.  Where there are more applicants than places available, places will be allocated by proximity to the Academy using straight line measurement from the main entrance of the Academy to the main entrance to the child’s home and, in the event of a tie-breaker under this criterion, places will be decided by drawing lots;

 1.4             Admission of pupils living outside the priority admissions area on the basis of proximity to the school using straight line measurement form the main entrance of the Academy to the main entrance of the child’s home and, in the event of a tie-breaker under this criterion, places will be decided by drawing lots.
