Christmas comes early for Drapers’ Academy pupils.

Two lucky pupils at the new Drapers’ Academy in Harold Hill had their excellent attendance record rewarded when the they were presented with brand new mountain bikes today.

Matthew Slater, Principal at Drapers’ Academy, surprised pupils in the morning assembly when he announced he would be drawing the names of two children who had achieved 100% attendance, in the first term of the new school, with two mountain bikes.

“Good school attendance is crucial if children are to reach their full potential, by recognising pupils achieving good attendance we are helping to develop this skill, so equipping and helping our pupils to be successful in future employment,” commented the Principal, Matthew Slater.

Not suprisingly the two lucky pupils from Year 9 and 10 (pictured below with Mr Slater) were thrilled with their early Christmas presents.

Since the Academy opened in September this year the attendance of pupils has improved on former King’s Wood figures, with 92.4% now achieiving 100% attendance.
