Academy Governors
Drapers’ Academy is set up as a company limited by guarantee with a charitable status. It is governed by a board of Trustees (the governing body) constituted under a memorandum of association and articles of association, like most limited companies, but in addition is a registered charity.
All the responsibilities of the Trustees are given to the Governors and the governing body has the clearly defined strategic role in shaping the success of Draoers’ Academy with the following key responsibilities;
- ensuring the quality of educational provision
- challenge and monitor the performance of the academy
- managing the academy trust’s finances and property
- employing staff.
Drapers’ is very fortunate to benefit from a governing body made up from a range of representatives, including a number of our sponsors, a local councillor, the principal and a local community representative. All members of our governing body are appointed on the basis of the contribution that they will make to the school and have a legal duty to act only in the interest of the Academy.
