How the Academy benefits Harold Hill

  • The Academy has a fully inclusive Admissions Policy for year 7 - 11, providing places for pupils regardless of ability, faith or no faith, or special educational need.
  • Opening in September 2010 the Academy aims to serve the local community with a new multi-million pound purpose built school by September 2012.
  • Additionally the Academy benefits from a £2 million endowment fund, which is available to the Governing Body to support pupils’ access to co-curricular and extra curricular opportunities.
  • The curriculum has a strong focus on literacy and numeracy to ensure that all pupils achieve a standard in these two areas that will enable them to use these skills in everyday life and as a basis for further study.
  • Pupils have the opportunity to study three separate sciences up to GCSE level and be able to gain the required qualifications included within the English Baccalaureate. They are also be offered a full range of subjects enabling them to develop creatively through art, music, drama and dance; physically through competitive sport and physical recreation and spiritually through religious, moral and citizenship education.
  • Pupils can also benefit from comprehensive and innovative co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that is designed to motivate and encourage higher achievement and build a strong sense of community. The Academy operates an extended day that provides a rich array of activities for pupils beyond the normal school day.
  • It is our aim that the Academy will bring benefits to the Havering family of schools through links and coordination of the curriculum with other schools and colleges in the Borough.  Whilst the sponsors aim to work closely with local schools and business partners to develop opportunities for young people.
  • Overall, pupils attending the Academy will receive an outstanding preparation for higher education and other kinds of further study for those who wish to continue their education.
