Drapers' Academy Celebrate First GCSE Results

Drapers’ Academy in Harold Hill is celebrating receiving it’s first GCSE results since opening its doors last September.

Provisional results show that of the 91 students from year 11 that sat their English GCSE early last November, a total of 48.4% have achieved A* to C grades. This puts the new Academy on target to achieve great first year results.

Results for Maths and Science were also very encouraging* reflecting the Academy’s specialisms in these subjects, and the opportunities offered by their sponsor, Queen Mary, University of London as well as the importance placed by the Academy on traditional values.

Matthew Slater, Principal at Drapers’ Academy said, “Good GCSE results are important for realising future employment opportunities, but we also need to see them in context of each individual pupil’s achievement, and that we give each pupil the necessary foundations and skills for a full and happy adult life, whatever challenges the future may present.”

* only modular results (so incomplete GCSEs) available so not able to predict final
