Pupils at Drapers' Academy experienced a fusion of cultures as departments across the school adopted different nationalities for a truly multi-cultural day. Lessons were themed to reflect the traditions and beliefs of those countries, so that with understanding we could develop respect for our cultural differences.

It was a really amazing day. Traditional African dance production group "ADANTA" performed during the lunch period, with four drummers and four dancers showcasing three different traditional African dances.

The Learning Support team sported t-shirts with different flags which reflected the variety of languages spoken at the Academy with prizes being awarded to pupils who could correctly identify all the countries. The Mathematics department were Japanese for the day so utilised Sudoko and Kenken puzzles, and the art of origami in their lessons. Whilst the science faculty learnt about Russia's dominance in the space race by looking at different types of rockets, as well as practical ways that parachutes can land an egg!

Other countries included were: America and Hollywood, specifically silent movies, for drama; Canada, and a journey through the Provinces to gain Canadian citizenship for the English dept; Humanities looked at Irish myths and legends; ICT , Tech & Food Tech explored China's production of world technology, made old Chinese toys and cooked noodles; Art created a fabulous Mexican metal art piece; Music explored the roots of the Samba in the Brazillian slums called the favellas; the Library had a French theme; modern foreign languages explored Columbia (in Spanish of course!); PE did dance and football in the American style; and finally the Pastoral Mangers and site team were patriot in England attire!

Even the Finance and Main Office joined in with Mexico and Australian themes!
