Pupil Shortlisted for National Sports Award

2nd November 2011

Year 10 pupil, Paris Bowers, has been short listed for the Telegraph/Aviva School Sports Matters Awards 2011 in the Unsung Hero category.

Nominated by Head of P.E., Mrs Blair, said of Paris, “ she is a fantastic ambassador for Drapers’ Academy always happy to volunteer for both academic and sports events. As well as playing a variety of sports she is a qualified hockey umpire and plays hockey for the Borough.

Paris is an extremely modest young lady who understates her abilities and deserves this recognition for all her hard work.”

As a shortlisted nominee Paris, along with her grandparent Diane Bowers and Mrs Blair, will be attending the 2011 School Sports Matters Awards ceremony at Twickenham Stadium on November 3rd. As well as an opportunity to tour the stadium, they will have a lunch before the Awards Ceremony, that will be given by a range of prestigious sports personalities including Gail Emms, Perr Shakes-Drayton and Ugo Monye.

Paris said of the ceremony, “I am very excited about going. The best bit will be meeting the famous athletes.”

Judges for the awards include James Cracknell, Lee Dixon, Duncan Goodhew and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson.

We wish Paris a fabulous day.
