September Building Progress

External work on the new building continues in some wings but in the majority of areas the work is now internal, as concrete staircases are being added, work on plasterboard partitions is progressing in all wings, and screed flooring is being laid to ground and first floors.

Electrical installations (the first fix) are commencing where screed is being laid, along with trunking and underfloor heating.

The steel frame for the biome has also now been erected. This exciting feature of the building is effectively a double storey greenhouse that is planned to house both a rainforest and desert. The upper mezzanine level of the biome will link into the science suites allowing for study and research access by science pupils and lessons.
