Open Evening Success

Last night's open evening for year 5 and year 6 children and their parents considering a place for secondary school in September 2012 was a huge success, with hundred's attending to find out what has changed at Drapers' Academy in the year since it opened, and what the future holds for their children at the Academy.

After an inspiring speech from the Principal, Mr Slater, where he shared his vision for supporting children to reach their full potential both academically and personally, the children and parents had the opportunity to meet and speak with teachers as well as see work produced by current pupils. Prefects assisted the visitors by showing them around the school.

In the foyer visitors were welcomed by pupils from the Glee Club singing beautifully and there was the chance to see the model and plans for the new £24m state of the art school buildings due to open in September 2012. As the home page of our website shows - the clock is ticking down to the opening of the new building and whilst terribly exciting for everyone progress is already being made by the hard work of staff and pupils in our first year.
