German Hockey Team Visit Academy

Drapers' Academy pupils hosted an international hockey match this evening when a mixed team played Spandauer HTC from Spandau in Germany. The German team provided an excellent opposition although we generously fielded a mainly year 7 and 8 team against what turned out to be a very experienced and older team. Drapers' Academy lost 0-4. However, our team played fantastically and really challenged the Spandau goalkeeper who was exceptionally tall! Despite the loss the Academy pupils were delighted to meet the German team and had food and drinks after the game where international relations were defintitely established between the two teams with much swapping of Facebook details! It is hoped that we may be able to arrange a re-match in Germany with an international hockey tour at some time in the future.
