Olympic Initiative

Pupils are being invited to get more involved in PE and sport in a new Olympic themed scheme.

There will be 5 areas of involvement as shown in picture below. Pupils who achieve the criteria will be awarded coloured badges for the area of recognition achieved.

Extra Curricular

Where pupils attend 75% of extra curricular sports activities they will be awarded a blue extra curricular badge.

Last term the following pupils achieved this: Sean Phillips, Regan Gabriel, Billy Biggs, Charlie Moss, Paris Bowers, Abigail Jowett, Holly Shorey and Karen Ohene.

Pupils can earn this badge this term by attending the following clubs.

Year 7 and 8:
Monday - lunch volleyball, high jump, after school netball and boys basketball.
Tuesday - lunch rounders and gymnastics, after school girls hockey and athletics.
Wednesday - lunch dance and trampolining, after school boys hockey.
Thursday - lunch dance, after school athletics.
Friday - lunch high jump.

Year 9 and 10:
Monday - lunch volleyball, cricket, after school netball.
Tuesday - lunch rounders and gymnastics, after school girls hockey and athletics.
Wednesday - lunch dance and trampolining, after school boys hockey.
Thursday - lunch dance, basketball, after school athletics and cricket.
Friday - lunch high jump. 

Gifted and Talented

Where pupils have been recognised for their sporting talent either in school, and level 7/8 in PE assessments, or outside school, such as level 1 county sport representative or are on the PE Gifted and Talented register, they will be awarded a yellow gifted and talented badge.

So far this has been awarded to the following pupils: Jack Ostermeyer, Taylor Whybrow, Lewis Hughes, Sean Phillips, Billy Bell, Paris Bowers, James McCartney, John Rogers and Colin Searle.

Leadership

This part of the scheme recognises umpires, coaches and young leaders in sport, with current hockey leaders being rewarded with a green leadership badge.

The following pupils have achieved leadership; William Williams, Regan Gabriel, James McCartney, Sean Phillips and Paris Bowers.

Media

This part of the scheme is new to the PE department and invites pupils to get more involved in sport through media by writing reports on sports events, a newsletter and posters too. Pupils who have formed this group have been awarded a black media badge.

This term you will see the folloiwng pupils wearing the black badge: Roni Priestley, Emily Shipton, Casey Gage and Jack Mallett.

Community Sport

To be launched in September 2011 this will involve Drapers' pupils assisting at local primary schools to improve their sport.
