Young Leaders Netball Tournament a Success

A group of year 10 and 11 pupils have been learning to become Young Netball Leaders, which has involved learning how to umpire, coach and plan netball sessions, as part of working toward this recognised qualification. To increase their confidence they have been teaching year 6 and 7 pupils over the last term, with the culmination of the course being to hold a "high five" netball tournament.

Drapers' Academy pupils planned the tournament for November 10th, designing the certificates, ordering the trophies and running the event themselves. Attending the tournament were netball teams from local primary schools; Pyrgo, Broadford and Hilldene Primary. Before the competition began our pupils helped the primary school children with warming up exercises and some coaching before umpiring the games.

A huge well done to the following pupils: Valentina Diaconu, Honey Adebayo, Abigail Jowett, Jerleine Lubiano, Shannon Tranter, Shannon Harvey, Tia Rayment White, Sarah Hillsden, who have now qualified as Young Netball Leaders.

Also a big thank you to the year 6 pupils for attending the tournament with such enthusiasm.
