Phone Free School (Yondr)

At Drapers’ Academy, we are proud to be a phone and device free school. Research and national guidance highlight the significant benefits of reducing mobile phone use during the school day, including improved concentration, increased lesson engagement, stronger academic outcomes, and more positive social interactions between pupils. Our experience shows that removing phones from daily school life helps create a calmer environment where pupils can focus on learning, build stronger relationships, and engage more fully with the opportunities available to them.

The Department for Education has made clear that schools should prohibit the use of mobile phones during the school day, and mobile phones are a banned item at Drapers’ Academy. Our Yondr phone pouches support this expectation by ensuring devices remain securely stored throughout the day while still allowing pupils to bring them to and from school if needed. Phone pouches are considered part of our uniform and equipment expectations for all pupils.
