School Vision and Values

Drapers’ Academy is committed to providing an excellent education that raises its pupils’ and students’ aspirations; shows them the wider world and readies them for it; maximises their academic attainment and prepares them to lead fulfilling lives. The Academy will play a central, positive role for families and the wider Harold Hill community. It will not give up on any pupil and will encourage all learners to make the most of their talents in academic and in co-curricular fields. The Academy is proud to be part of the Drapers’ multi-Academy Trust and will maximize the impact of support from the Drapers’ Livery Company and Queen Mary University of London.

Kind, Respectful, Purposeful

At Drapers’ Academy, we are building a foundation upon the values of kindness, respect, and purposefulness. These values are the guiding principles that shape our community, culture, and interactions each day.

Each week pupils explore a new Character Focus which is discussed on a Monday form time and during assembly. We believe in explicitly teaching our pupils the core values of our community, empowering them to not just succeed but to truly thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Kindness is at the heart of everything we do. It's about fostering a nurturing environment where every individual feels valued, supported, and cared for. Whether it is a simple act of compassion or lending a helping hand, we believe in the power of kindness to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone can thrive.

Respect is the cornerstone of our school community. We recognise and celebrate the unique backgrounds, perspectives, and contributions of every member of our community. By treating others with dignity, empathy, and understanding, we cultivate a culture of mutual respect where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered to express themselves.

Purposefulness drives us to strive for excellence in all that we do; it allows our pupils to deepen their understanding of the curriculum and over time expand their knowledge which will enhance their learning outcomes and allow them to be successful in society. Being purposeful is about setting goals, working with determination, and making a meaningful impact both inside and outside the classroom. We inspire our pupils to have a clear sense of purpose, so they can pursue their passions, embrace challenges, and become lifelong learners.

Together, these values form the bedrock of our school's ethos, shaping not only the academic journey but also the personal growth and development of each individual within our community. At Drapers’ Academy we are committed to fostering a culture where kindness, respect, and purposefulness are not just ideals to aspire to, but integral parts of who we are and how we engage within our community and the world around us.
