Sixth Form Homepage

Drapers’ Academy Sixth Form was established in 2012 to provide students with outstanding academic and personal development and prepare them for the next stages of their lives. Our A level offer reflects the high aspirations we have for the young people of Harold Hill and beyond.

We currently have 200 students and offer 16 A Level subjects, in addition to a personalised and unique ‘Futures programme’ to support and guide our Sixth Formers to make informed and ambitious career decisions.  We encourage our Sixth Formers to embrace our core values of Kindness, Respect and Purposefulness and ensure they take every opportunity provided to experience the world beyond school.

Our students are fortunate to have the expertise and connections offered by our sponsors, the Drapers’ Company and Queen Mary University London. These links provide our sixth formers with a unique package of support and challenge. For example, we have been able to have personalised tours of the Houses of Parliament, visit Boden fashion house and each student has their CV reviewed by a team of recruitment consultants.

The majority of students go on to university from Drapers’ Sixth Form, with many going to Russell Group Institutions, including Oxford and Cambridge.  We are proud of our students’ achievements, as these are a tribute to the dedication, commitment and hard work of both the students and the Sixth Form staff team.

Our Sixth Form offers excellent teaching, skilled tutors and a co-curricular and careers provision that ensures all students leave us, not only with excellent results, but a range of experiences, mentoring and leadership opportunities, that fully prepare them for making informed and ambitious decisions about careers and university. This excellent provision is reflected in the progress made by Drapers’ students and was recognised in our recent Ofsted Inspection. Moreover, Drapers’ Academy is currently ranked second for progress in the Havering Sixth Form league table. Drapers’ Academy Sixth Form offers an exceptional experience for students both within and outside of Havering.

Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) support the Sixth Form Team with the day-to-day running of our sixth form. Each member of the team is given a specific role that they are in charge of for the year. Each academic year two head students are also chosen from within the JLT group, to lead the pupil and student body. Several candidates interview in front of a panel including the Principal Ms Dineen.

News and Events

Last half term was a busy one for our sixth form students. Our year 12 Futures Programme was launched with the first event at Drapers' Hall which all year 12 students attended (details below). For year 13, last half term was all about starting and submitting their formal UCAS applications. Our mentoring scheme was also launched with our year 13 students meeting their year 12 mentees who they have been matched with based on the subjects they study.

Speed Networking Event at Drapers' Hall

On the evening of Monday 23rd September our year 12 students attended a Speed Networking event at Drapers' Hall. Here they were able to meet with members of the Drapers' Company to discuss each member's career and gain advice about the multiple different career options available to them once they leave school. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for out students to network and form professional relationships and some have already gone on to organise work experience placements with some of the people they spoke to on the evening.

Sixth Form Mentoring Scheme

During the last week before half term our year 13 students met with their year 12 mentees for the first time to discuss how their first half term has been at Drapers' Academy and help them with any issues or challenges they might have faced. All students met during form time and the sixth form area was alive with the buzz of conversations between paired students.
