World Book Day - Author Visit

Drapers’ Academy students and staff had a wonderful opportunity to meet two great authors who attended the school on Tuesday 28^th February. They ran Year 7 workshops in the Library and Oak Centre to encourage literacy, and engage reluctant readers. 

Tony Lee is a number one New York Times bestselling author and has written for various UK and US comic publishers including 2000 AD, IDW Publishing, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Del Rey and Walker Books. He has also worked on X-Men Unlimited, Doctor Who, Superboy, Star Trek, Starship Troopers, Sherlock Holmes and Spider-Man. In addition to this he has also written audio plays for Big Finish and ITV, novels aimed at reluctant readers and screenplays for film and TV, including episodes of the BBC One drama Doctors.

Also, we welcomed a local children’s author, Natalie Newman, from Romford.  Natalie had her first book published by Austin Macauley in May 2020. which she co-wrote with her 7 year old son. The book was named Lark The Shark and aimed at children aged 8 years old.
